Adelaide Magistrate’s Court

Criminal Listings Administration Officer

April 2015 – July 2015 (Contract)

Magistrates Court based in Adelaide hear many cases in Criminal and Civil matters each day.

Key Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this role was to manage and coördinate local, intrastate, and interstate Audio Visual Link (AVL) hearings involving vulnerable clients/witnesses or solicitors and barristers in criminal matters by:

  • Arranging on site and offsite facilities as required
  • Ensuring vulnerable witnesses had adequate protection (i.e. a Sheriff of the Court was present)
  • Checking the documentation for correctness in multiple criminal court files and jurisdictions to make sure that the  correspondence required had been submitted in a timely manner
  • Handling case-sensitive information and ensuring complete compliance
  • Engaging with multiple stakeholders and Court officials each day
  • Provision of trail files to assigned Listing Manager on site
  • Organising interpreter on site if necessary for a case

Court Officer

March 2015 – April 2015 (Contract)

 Key Responsibilities

 Primary goal was to give day-to-day Court support in a professional way to the Magistrate of the Civil Court by:

  • Setting up courtroom before commencement of lists and preparation of matters and clients including all witnesses for Court
  • Checking sensitive information each day in confidence
  • Liaise with Listings Officer on daily lists
  • Distribute lists and files to Magistrates and Clerks
  • Engaging with multiple Court officials and stakeholders each day
  • Training of new hires into the team working in a supportive and collaborative environment
  • Managed day-to-day administration and legal duties as required
